Hi I’m Moraima Buonafede owner of Elite Fitness by Nutrition.
I had recently moved to Florida, and didn't know anyone or have any family to rely on, when I first got my Zumba Certification. My dance career of over 20 years had come to an end. I dreamed of making Zumba my new career and possibly reaching great financial stability from doing something I was really passionate about.
Prior to becoming a Group Fitness Instructor I had a very fulfilling career in competitive Dance. Traveling the world and experiencing various cultures really made me understand how people around the world are similar in their need of an outlet to express their true self and release all the pressure of the day-to-day living .
I learned through a lot of trial and effort how to run my business. When I first got certified I got a couple of offers from some local gyms, but to my surprise, their offers were extremely low and left me very disappointed. That's when I decided to go on my own.
I started out by renting a space at a Dance studio and made the decision to market my class and make it super successful. I purchased flyers, business cards, big banners, posters anything I could get my hands on. It was a total flop... I probably had a total of 10 students in 3 months time. Not really the financial security and lifestyle I was imagining.
Extremely disappointed at all the money I had spent, my crushed ego, I decided to give up on the idea and just continue in good old secure Corporate America. A few years later, just when I was tired of the monotony, I decided to return to Canada for a better life, but a great opportunity came my way to learn a business strategy from a successful mentor.
I was only asked to remain teachable and consistent, I had nothing to lose so I started to learn with an open mind. I learned a famous quote "Change Your mindset, change your life" and indeed so much started changing. Shortly after I was able to partner up with a few people in the fitness industry and started to teach again, my classes where not only surpassing the 50+ but my income was increasing and so was my business knowledge.
The business transitioned to one with multiple partners and I was able to quit my job. One year later they decided to open their own franchise and I was left with a tough decision to make. Do I quit or continue on my own, it was a no brainer, business was doing better than ever and becoming a single business owner did not scare me, I had everything I needed to make this a successful fitness center.
There were many times during these two years when I didn't think that things would work out and I thought I would end up having to close the doors and go back to work, but with continuous work and passion we increased class sizes and we even expanded almost doubling our space size.
Today I recognize the lack of mentorship and tools available for the small business people, for individuals that have a dream of getting certified and making a great living in what they are passionate about. This is how the Fitness Business Formula was born, to get you from $0.00 to business owner in 90 days or less.
I wanted to share this guide so you will have all the information you need to start your own fitness center. This training will take you from having no money, clue or knowledge of how to open your own fitness center to actually opening your own fitness center.
